What's New for JBO 3.7
(3/13/2006)

Archive: JBO Changes by Release

  1. Incorporated the review due-date into the Subject line of review requests
(NOTE: The review due-date used is the same one on which the Overdue/Pending Report data is based, and on which the ticklers/reminders are based; this due date is auto-calculated but may be overwritten by a manually entered due-date for any individual review.)
  2. Remedied the results display for the Reviewer Search function so that standardized reviewer information appears regardless of whether this function is accessed from the Manuscript Information Page or a manuscript list (e.g., Working File); also added two (2) expansion links for the Reviewer Search results display that provide options to “View All History” for a specific reviewer or “Last 12 Months”
  3. Enabled capture of content of a reviewer’s acceptance email for Correspondences section
  4. Eliminated the Agree/Decline links from reminder letters to reviewers who have agreed
  5. Created separate displays within categories for responders and non-responders in Reviews Pending report
  6. Reconfigured the Reviews Pending report in two ways: 1) listed the non-responders first in each timeframe category; and 2) displayed each pending review based on a user-saved due-date, if one has been manually entered; otherwise this display is based on the initial auto-calculated due-date
  7. Enabled journal-level option to send an email alert when a manuscript has fallen below (or has not yet reached) a critical number [X] of reviewers who have accepted
(NOTE: The default critical number “[X]” is 3, but this journal-level default number may be changed by the Managing Editor via the manuscript list menu Other > Journal-Level Preferences.)
  8. Enabled the entry of one or more review ratings on the Compose-Action-Letter screen, below the textbox in which the letter is drafted
  9. Enabled easier access to each review when drafting the action letter by displaying each review on the same page as the Compose-Action-Letter textbox
  10. Enabled the assigned Associate Editor (AE) to receive a copy of the action letter when it is sent to author
  11. Moved display of action letter to the top of the Correspondences section
  12. Enabled differentiation of a manuscript for which the action letter has been rejected by main editor via a font color change for the manuscript’s link from black to red
  13. Expanded the Misc. Correspondence function to serve as the means to manually upload a manuscript’s cover letter
  14. Several changes to the Table of Contents (TofC) function, including:
    1. Linked title to abstract in TofC generator
    2. Added ceiling count to TofC generator pages
    3. Modified presentation of manuscripts in TofC generator to separate current statuses; different statuses now presented in different font colors throughout process
    4. Included carry-over manuscripts in TofC generator for incoming journals
    5. Added a “ceiling count” to TofC function pages
  15. Enabled automatic removal of an outgoing editorial office’s email addresses from internal JBO mailing lists 6 months after the office stops accepting new manuscripts
  16. Created new report: “First Submission Decisions by Action Editor” (accessible via the Reports menu)
  17. Added ability to delete individual correspondences from a manuscript’s record
  18. Enabled auto-notification of Manuscript Coordinator (MC) when a member of a journal’s editorial board updates his/her information
  19. Eliminated the ability of a reviewer to modify reviewer-type in the post-review update information page
  20. Verified that manuscript-number variable appears in the initial review confirmation message that is displayed to reviewer upon review submission; this initial review confirmation message is present in the JBO for each incoming editorial office, but may subsequently be modified by the MC
(NOTE: The inclusion of the manuscript-number variable in the review submission confirmation message is recommended for reviewers’ benefit, but it is not mandatory.)
