Archive: JBO Changes by Release

The scope of changes in v.3.6 encompasses the areas of review process, file management, correspondence, preferences, reports, and issue assembly.

Review Process

  • Affiliations for authors are now displayed in the manuscript information section on the left side of the Reviewer Search screen.
  • Upgraded and updated Ethnic Minority and Member Expertise Searches:
    • Inclusion of all 2005 data to-date, as well as the inception of weekly database updates that correspond to PsycINFO’s weekly releases
    • Display of author’s affiliation (at the time of publication) following the author’s name
  • Outstanding reviews are denoted on the Reviewer Search screen by a “Pending" or "N/R" designation (“N/R” [Not Returned] is used only for reviews of manuscripts for which a decision has been made.)
  • Added ability to save the left-side portion of Reviewer Search screen without directing the user away from the page. Also added a link to Google that opens a new browser window for searching outside the JBO.
  • Added ability to modify revision due date to Manuscript Coordinator (MC), Managing Editor (ME), and Associate Editor (AE) offices.
  • When a review rating is entered, the review page remains on the screen (rather than being replaced by the manuscript list or Manuscript Info page).

Other Changes

  • Added link to “View Only Your Assigned Manuscripts” to ME’s “Master File by AE” manuscript list that displays all manuscripts (of any status) to which the ME is assigned as an AE.
  • Added document-type options: Theoretical Note, Reply, Postscript.
  • Added a journal-level option which, when enabled, allows each AE to choose whether to receive reviewer agreement notifications via the Other > Preferences menu.
  • Added visual delineation between the text of the action letter and reviews that are sent to authors and reviewers.
  • Thank-you letters to reviewers are now captured and displayed as part of the manuscript record under the “Correspondences” section.
  • Added “Action Editor Assignments” report to Assign-AE function which includes 30-day, 90-day, 180-day, and year-to-date (YTD) columns for dates of assignment. Also added “First Submissions Completed by AE” and “Revised Submissions Completed by AE” reports (which include average completion time) to Reports menu [Reports > Year-End > Manuscript Assignments].
  • Revised Table of Contents / Assemble Issue function.
  • Enabled a reviewer to directly modify his/her contact information after submitting a review.
  • Replaced "Update" with "Edit" in text for Add / [Update] Review menu.
