Archive: JBO Changes by Release

The scope of changes encompasses the areas of review process, navigation, file management, and other changes relevant to better connecting the editorial process with the journal production process.

Review Process

  • Added the following options when composing action letter:
    1. Send to all previous remitting reviewers; assign to Action Editor (AE) and move to "Needs Review Requests Sent" (Manuscript Coordinator [MC] option)
    2. Give to me to pick mix of new/old reviewers; Assign to AE and move to "Needs Review Requests Sent" (AE option)
    3. Send to Reviewer 1; Assign to AE and move to "Needs Review Requests Sent" (MC option)
    4. Send to Reviewer 2; Assign to AE and move to "Needs Review Requests Sent" (MC option)
    5. Send to Reviewer 3; Assign to AE and move to "Needs Review Requests Sent" (MC option)
    6. Send to [me]/AE (Same as b)
    7. Decide later, forward to [me]/AE when received (Same as b)
  • Added ability to modify auto-acknowledgement that is sent to authors (1st and 2nd) upon manuscript submission
  • Added ability to modify auto-acknowledgement that is sent to reviewers upon review submission
  • Enabled date specification of 1-60 days for review request and reminder letters via addition of [DATE1] and [DATE60] variables in letter templates
  • Implemented a system-check to prevent creation of duplicate author and reviewer records
  • Added ability to create a) a reviewer record from author record, and b) an author record from reviewer record
  • Fixed reviewer search on desktop

Other Changes

  • Created an auto-return to the most recently viewed manuscript list after visiting other pages (vs. an auto-return to the Working File)
  • Changed label of "Re-submitted Revision, Awaiting Reviewer Assignment" to "Re-submitted Revision, Awaiting Reviewer Assignment or Editorial Action Letter"
  • Removed previous versions and rejected manuscripts from Sort-by-Status list and created new lists for these manuscripts in AE offices (i.e., similar to current displays in Main/Managing Editor [ME] and MC offices)
  • Added a drill-down option of Previous Versions of Rejected Manuscripts to the main Previous Versions list
  • Added drill-down options of a) Active Previous Versions and b) Accepted Previous Versions to the main Previous Versions list
  • Implemented Issue Assembly function (released prior to v.3.5)
  • Implemented mask-from-ME function (released prior to v.3.5)
