What's New for JBO 3.3

Archive: JBO Changes by Release

The scope of changes encompasses the broad areas of submission process / creation of manuscript file, review process, and other changes relevant to interface labels, manuscript lists, and a few "miscellaneous" changes that should prove helpful. (NOTE: Several changes that had been planned for this version were deferred due to time constraints resulting from the transfer of the JBO application to a new server; these changes are now scheduled for the next version [release date TBA])

Submission process / Creation of manuscript file:
- Added radio button to submission portal to allow author to specify submission of a new or revised manuscript; information displayed for Manuscript Coordinator (MC) in "New Submissions File" as boldface=type "REVISED" link under the "Add" column (vs. "NEW" for initial submissions)
- Relocated field for manuscript number to follow the "Add Author" button to prevent the automatic overwriting of a manually-changed manuscript number when the page reloads
- Replaced "View" link with "Upload Manuscript" link to help users recognize when a manuscript file has not yet been uploaded to a manuscript's record
Review process:
- Added "View in a separate window" link to the Manuscript Information page to allow information about a manuscript's identified reviewers to remain visible / accessible to the MC (via toggling between windows) when searching the JBO reviewer database prior to select identified reviewer or when adding the reviewer to the JBO database (NOTE: Link appears only when manuscript's status is "Desired Reviewers Identified, Needs Review Requests Sent")
- Added set of tickler / reminder letters for non-responding reviewers, accessible in the same manner as the tickler / reminder letters for reviewers who have agreed
- Decline notifications now sent to all MC's listed for a particular journal
Other changes:
- Labels / Terminology:
  - Changed "Ad Hoc Correspondence [Email] " to "Misc. Correspondence [Email] " to prevent any confusion between the purpose of this function and Ad Hoc reviewers
  - Changed labels on buttons at bottom of assign-reviewer / create review request screen:
    - Changed "Send [letter x]" to "View / Edit Letter"
    - Changed "Submit" to "Send Letter
- Manuscript lists:
  - Modified "Master File by Number" list to include manuscripts of any status to enable easier verification that every manuscript number has been assigned / none was skipped
  - Removed previous versions of manuscripts from "Master File by Status" list to reduce page size by limiting data to active manuscripts
    - Upon rejection of a manuscript, all previous versions will be automatically moved from active lists to the rejected section of the "Previous Versions" list
    - All offices given access to "Previous Versions" list
  - Added "Orphaned" status to MC office to provide a means of removing inactive / unused JBO files from active lists; files with this status will appear in "Master File by Number " list
  - Changed display of manuscripts in "Assembled Articles" list to reverse-chronological order so that oldest issue appears at the bottom
  - Added access to "Published Articles" list for AE's
- Etc.:
  - Added "Notes" field to the following pages:
    - Reviewer record
    - Author record
    - Manuscript Information page
  - Changed destination page for [add / change manuscript history] function from Working File to Manuscript Information page
  - Relocated email address field for author and reviewer records to the top of the screen to facilitate its retrieval when needed
    Remove access to "Assemble Issue" function from AE offices so that this functionality is only available to managing editor
  - Enable manual resizing of any secondary window that is automatically opened (e.g., add-author-to-ms screen)
