Establishment of a planned and systematic deployment schedule for the JBO system, consisting of quarterly-scheduled versions which incorporate user-centered design processes into the software development lifecycle
Smaller masthead that allocates more space for useful information;
Re-designed menu hierarchy and interaction scheme that facilitates item selection;
Addition of a search function that enables location of manuscript by number, title keyword, or author's last name;
Addition of a reminder letter to authors of pending revisions that is composed by the action editor (AE) and sent by the manuscript coordinator (MC) or the AE from the "Pending Revisions" page; the letter may be modified by the MC before sending if desired;
Addition of a reminder letter to any non-remitting reviewers that is automatically sent when the action letter and thank-you letter are sent to other reviewers (Note: Letter may be modified upon request);
Addition of a textbox to the review request form that provides consenting reviewers with a means of communicating relevant information to both the MC and AE at the time of agreement (e.g., to request additional time for review);
Display of a reviewer's Ad Hoc or Editorial Board status in the reviewer-search results; this information is also available to the MC when preparing to send review requests;
Ability for AE's to denote an expected date of revision receipt when composing an action letter; this date is displayed on the revisions-pending page as well as the manuscript information page, and it may be modified by the MC if desired;
Submitting Ad Hoc Correspondence now returns user to the manuscript information page (rather than the Working File) to enable more efficient workflow; and
Updated User's Guide to reflect the changes implemented for version 3.0.
